Call for Posters and Papers

2020 National Fusarium Head Blight Forum
December 7-11, 2020

 

 

PAPER/ABSTRACT FORMATS

 

Papers and abstracts must be submitted (via email) directly to the Networking & Facilitation Office as a Microsoft Word (2013 or higher i.e. docx) document no later than Friday, November 6, 2020.  If this is not possible, please contact the Networking and Facilitation Office prior to the submission deadline.

Papers should be six pages or less including all tables, graphics, and references.  The text should be formatted using Times New Roman 12-point font, and it should be single-spaced.

Papers should written to include the following components/sections:

  • Title (Formatted in title case),
  • Authors,
  • Authors' Organizational Affiliation,
  • Corresponding Author's Phone Number and E-mail Address,
  • Objectives,
  • Introduction,
  • Materials and Methods,
  • Results and Discussion,
  • Acknowledgements (see special instructions under 'Acknowledgements' Section below for papers that resulted from funding from USDA-ARS through the USWBSI), and
  • References

The Correponding Author should be designated with an '*' following his/her name and designated affiliation (i.e. number) in the list of authors.  The title should be in Title Case (e.g. Effects of Application...).  Each section heading should be in bold, ALL IN CAPS and start at the left margin.  Content text will retain capitalization, bold, and italic formats, but text flow will be altered in the formatting of the overall proceedings.  Please do not use page breaks, tabs, or the footnote function (use superscripts instead), and include hard returns only at the end of a paragraph or reference.

Please inform the Networking & Facilitation Office if the paper/abstract being submitted contains special characters or symbols.  It is preferred that figures and tables be submitted in a separate file, preferably Microsoft Excel (2013 or higher i.e. xlsx) file, with a notation in the main document indicating where they should be inserted.  Click on the links below to see properly formated examples:

INSTRUCTIONS FOR 'ACKNOWLEDGMENT' SECTION

 

If a submitted paper or abstract is the result of funding (full or partial) received from USDA-ARS through the USWBSI, acknowledgement of this support must be included in one of the following formats:

  • Funding received in the form of a research agreement (i.e. grants awarded to universities):
    "This material is based upon work supported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, under Agreement No. [insert ARS agreement number here].  This is a cooperative project with the U.S. Wheat & Barley Scab Initiative."
     
    All such materials must also contain the following disclaimer unless the publication is formally cleared by USDA:
    "Any opinions, findings, conclusions, or recommendations expressed in this publication are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the view of the U.S. Department of Agriculture."
  • USDA-ARS scientists who received funding through the USWBSI:
    "This material is based upon work supported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.  This is a cooperative project with the U.S. Wheat & Barley Scab Initiative."
     
    All such materials must also contain the following disclaimer unless the publication is formally cleared by USDA:
    "Any opinions, findings, conclusions, or recommendations expressed in this publication are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the view of the U.S. Department of Agriculture."

 

 

POSTER/PAPER REGISTER AND CONTENT SUBMISSION

 

  • Registration of Poster/Paper:  Please complete an on-line registration form for each Poster Abstract/Paper or stand-alone Paper by Friday, November 6th.
     
  • Submission of Content:  Content (i.e. actual abstracts or papers), which will be included in the Forum Proceedings, should be submitted as e-mail attachments (2013 or higher i.e. docx, xlsx) to the Networking & Facilitation Office at nfo@scabusa.org no later than Friday, November 6th.

All papers (excludes Abstracts) must also be submitted in PDF format as an email attachment to nfo@scabusa.org.

POSTER FORMAT

 

Posters dimensions should not exceed 4' x 4' (121.92 cm x 121.92 cm).

First authors are encouraged, but not required, to submit a 3-minute pre-recorded video explaining their poster.  For information on how to make a pre-recorded video, please click here.

NOTE:  If presented poster is the result of research funded from USDA-ARS through the USWBSI, acknowledgement of this support must be included on poster and associated content (i.e. Abstract/Paper).  Refer to 'Instructions for Acknowledgement' above.


 

IMPORTANT DATES

 

Nov. 6th: Deadline for registration of Posters/Papers/Abstracts.
Deadline for the submission of abstract and paper content for inclusion in the Forum proceedings.
Nov. 16th: Posters/Papers/Abstracts Registration IDs for uploading posters will be distributed to First Authors.
Nov. 19th: Individuals notified of selection for Flash & Dash Presentations.
Dec. 4th: All posters (PDF Format) with associated video presentations must be uploaded to the Forum poster presentation website.
