About This Site

This website is managed by the Networking and Facilitation Office (NFO) of the U.S. Wheat and Barley Scab Initiative. The Initiative's goal is to develop as quickly as possible effective control measures that minimize the threat of Fusarium head blight (scab) to the producers, processors, and consumers of wheat and barley. At present, there are 80 scientists from 28 Universities and the USDA-ARS that participate in a wide range of research projects aimed at achieving this goal. The role of the NFO is to facilitate this process through web-based and other means of communication and coordination.

The purpose of this website (scabusa.org) is to provide information and links about scab and scab research. Visitors can access both administrative (project titles and abstracts, grant amounts, who is doing the research and where) and technical information (reports on progress, newsletters, and annual Forum proceedings) about Initiative's research funded by the USDA-ARS. Some of the website's pages dynamically draw information from a formal database containing information on projects, institutions, grants, documents, and contacts.
